Honor Flight Louisiana Statement on 2021 Flight Season

FLIGHTS POSTPONED UNTIL 2022

After lengthy discussions, the Honor Flight Louisiana Board of Directors has elected to postpone any flights until at least spring of 2022. As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision for us to make, as we lost the 2020 and 2021 flying seasons to COVID-19 as well.

The decision was made in response to COVID-19 guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and trip requirements from the Honor Flight Network nationwide.

Numerous COVID-related health and safety measures have been implemented by the Honor Flight Network for 2021. All affiliated hubs must comply with these measures in order to resume trips. These extensive requirements are necessary to protect the health of all Honor Flight mission trip participants, including our senior Americans.

Honor Flight Louisiana believes these requirements will diminish the experience for our Veterans throughout a very active trip itinerary. Additionally, there remains uncertainty regarding access to some of our important sites/locations normally visited in Washington, D.C. With the rise of the delta variant, this uncertainty has been exasperated.

Our goal, and sincere hope, is to fly again as soon as spring 2022 with fewer or no limitations due to COVID-19 safety protocols. Our existing wait lists will be preserved, and we continue to accept new applications. We thank everyone for your understanding and continued support.
